The Cooperative S’Atra Sardigna is not only an organization of organic producers. Above all, since its birth, it has made its best to achieve ‘S’Atra Sardigna’, the Other Sardinia. Our desire is that the whole Sardinian agriculture becomes organic and that all the agriculture productions are made respecting the health of consumers and of the Planet. For this reason, we have carried out several projects, either for making consumers aware of different nutritional habits or for enlarging its production basis with an increasingly higher number of members and organic productions. The most recent projects are listed below:
Projects on nutritional and environmental education
Measure no. 133 of Rural Development Programme (PSR) Sardegna 2007-2013. Actions for the information and promotion of organic products. It was carried out in the period 2010-2012 with an investment of about 500,000 euro, only partially financed by Regione Sardegna, and included the organization of seminars, food and wine events in farms, tasting, participation in trade fairs and events.
Measure no. 3.2 of Rural Development Programme (PSR) Sardegna 2014-2020. Actions for the information and promotion of organic products. It was carried out in the period 2018-2019 with an investment of about 150,000 euro, only partially financed by Regione Sardegna, and included the organization of specific paths in collaboration with Schools on food education, food and wine events in farms, tasting.
Measure no. 16.4 of Rural Development Programme (PSR) Sardegna 2014-2020. Short production chain. This project is now under preliminary evaluations and foresees to create a range of Purchase Groups at schools and public offices, as well as a net of hotels and restaurants willing to create a circuit of organic food service.
Projects for an environmentally sustainable territory
Measure no. 16.1 of Rural Development Programme (PSR) Sardegna 2014-2020. Bio-district of Porto Conte, Alghero. In its first step, the project was carried out between 2018 and 2019. The second step includes the creation of a Bio-district – formally already created – at about fifteen organic farms of the Park Area, which joined the Bio-District leaded by the promoter S’Atra Sardigna. The Regional Park of Porto Conte joined the Bio-District too. This action has been fulfilled thanks to several investments, but a regional notice of competition is needed.
Projects for producers
Integrated supply-chain project (PIF) – Rural Development Programme (PSR) Sardegna 2014-2020. This project, at the moment under preliminary evaluations, involves 15-20 companies members of S’Atra Sardigna Producer Organization (OP). With an investment of almost 4 million euro, only partially co-financed, it foresees to increase the production of Sardinian fruit and vegetable until the volume of Sardinian organic fruit and vegetable production will have doubled. With this project, the existing park of photovoltaic panels is enlarged considerably, and biomass boilers for the conditioning of protected cultivations are introduced.
Measure no. 16.2 of Rural Development Programme (PSR) Sardegna 2014-2020. Experimentation of new organic pecorino cheese. The project is now under preliminary evaluations but it foresees to produce three new types of organic pecorino cheese (fresh, aged, lactose-free) with the purpose of contributing to diversification among pecorino cheese, whose production today is essentially oriented towards Roman pecorino.
